It’s summer — the humidity and heat are in full swing and the sun just will not stop shining. It’s the sort of weather that makes us all feel so happy and giddy!

And, as all true Chicagoans know, you HAVE to take advantage of the nice summer weather before it’s gone so without further ado, here is a quick list of my favorite ways to take advantage of these beautiful sunny days!

A Few of My Favorite Things to Do Every Summer

1. Get Ice Cream

Obviously.

And obvious given today’s outfit location but an important ritual to observe each and every summer regardless.

There’s nothing like cold, creamy ice cream to combat summer heat and humidity. My favorite spots are Jeni’s Ice Cream (where I shot today’s look) and Black Dog Gelato since they both seem to carry the most interesting and unique flavors.

You can also see more of my favorite Chicago dessert spots in my newly published Chicago Travel Guide!

2. Spend at Day in the Sand at North Avenue Beach

I love North Avenue Beach. I shoot there all the time (it’s one of my favorite shooting locations in Chicago) and spend hours and hours there most weeks in summer.

In the mornings (especially on weekdays) you can go for a run in the sunrise and watch the city wake up. In the evenings you can go out (with an ice cream!) and stand in the Lake Michigan waves while the sun sets. It’s a magical place and the best place in Chicago (IMHO) for embracing the beautiful summer weather.

3. Head to Water

Be it in a boat, kayak, or just running into the waves along a beach, make sure you take advantage of all the fun water sports and activities you can only do in summer!

4. Make Rosé Slushie Floats

Ever since I shot this recipe for the blog last summer, my sister and I have been obsessed with these Rosé Slushie Floats. They’re a delicious, slightly boozier way to get your ice cream intake for the summer and SO EASY to whip up last-minute.
