There are few things I love more than the ocean. The surf, the sand, the rhythmic drumming of the waves. It’s incredible therapy for the soul.

When we were in Mexico for New Years, Hubby and I spent hours standing on the beach listening to the music of the sea.

But sadly I live in Chicago. And while we do technically have beaches along Lake Michigan, they are nothing like the beaches of an actual ocean. And only the bravest of us would dare dip a toe into the trash-laden waters of the lake…

The good news is that walking along the lake can often produce the same therapeutic effects on the soul that the ocean does. Especially down by the museum campuses near The Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium. The architecture along the lakefront there is so beautiful and romantic I can ALMOST envision myself walking the shorelines of Monaco instead.

And while I’m hoping to see a real ocean soon enough in the coming months, finally having some sunny warm weather and a leisurely walk along the lakefront has at least given my soul a sense of calm and peace, despite how much this bizarre weather lately has tried to shake us Chicagoans.

Tell me, do you find solace in the sea too?
