The First November Snow

zara-mulberry-check-tan-black-burgundy-16I have come to regard November as the older, harder man’s October. I appreciate the early darkness and cooler temperatures. It puts my mind in a different place than October. It is a month for a quieter, slightly more subdued celebration of summer’s death as winter tightens its grip.”

It took so much longer than any of us expected but yesterday it finally happened…

It snowed.

Not a lot.

Really just a flurry.

And so lightly my Mom who lives 30 miles away didn’t get any snow at all.

But we definitely got snow yesterday.

It covered the cars and buildings on our street silently. A very humbling reminder that though we’ve had a magnificent fall with uncharacteristically warm weather, winter is most certainly ON THE WAY.

This morning the snow is gone but it will be back… And sooner than we think.

So for now I’m taking as much advantage of the time I have left before winter as possible. Soon enough I’ll be living in my fur-lined wellies dreaming of the day when I can wear another pair of suede pumps like these without completely ruining them and soaking my foot frozen in the process.

Oh, winter, you brutal beast, you…
