Traditionally pairing brown and black together is considered one of the most offensive fashion faux pas you can make. It’s either all black hues or all brown hues — no mixing allowed!

But you know I like to break style rules I find unjust (I’ll wear white after Labor Day long after my hair turns white!) so funnily enough I’ve been wearing this combo nonstop lately.

Maybe it’s this unnatural Indian Summer we’re having here in Chicago? I seriously can’t believe I still don’t regularly need a jacket! But this gorgeous weather has really thrown my closet into a transitional frenzy — do I embrace fall or dress for the sunny, August-esque weather we’re still having? This color palette has been my go-to since it feels dark and moody enough for October but can be remixed with some of my favorite summer pieces to stay practical for the temps.

How do you embrace autumn when the weather is in the 70s?
