It’s time to go back to school already!

I know I say this ALL the time but where has the summer gone? Where has the last year gone?

It feels like just yesterday Hubby and I were packing for the Riviera Maya to spend New Year’s with friends…

And now it’s almost September and all the kids in our neighborhood are heading back to school again. To school AGAIN! Already! I’ll admit, I’m not ready for it to be fall (even if I am feeling quite “fall-ish” these days).

When I think about my style back in school, especially high school, it’s pretty humorous:

I had a goth phase.

A hippy phase.

A preppy phase.

And an “I only wear vintage” phase.

I’ll be honest, my school style can only be described as weird. Always the experimental, artistic type, I was the kind of girl who showed up to prom in a $10 vintage silver empire dress with comfy silver ballet flats (which I supposed I’m STILL wearing, just in a more modern incarnation…).

But when I got to college I took on the hardest major my school had to offer and set myself the task of graduating with high honors. My workload left me little time to figure out my outfits so I eventually, out of sheer necessity, developed a very simple uniform: flowy top, stretchy jeans, comfy flats, and an easy tote. Today’s look is a perfect example of my school uniform — simple, to the point, and comfy but not without visual interest.

Exactly what I still like to wear today!

What do/did you wear to go back to school?
