Yesterday — Labor Day — has always felt like the “unofficial” end to summer.
Kids are back in school. The convivial cheer of summer fades into one of focused achievement for all.
Fall is coming whether we like it or not (is your wardrobe ready? Stop by my newly launched Autumn Shop for some great options for fall!).
So here’s one of my very last summer outfits before the warmth fades and the snow inevitably comes.
I bought this stunning Altuzarra dress on deep discount from Neiman Marcus in July and have been frolicking around in it behind-the-scenes since. It’s a bright, vibrant statement dress — so different from the neutrals I usually wear — but I love how much life this dress gives whenever I wear it! I remember falling for it back last December before Hubby and I headed to Mexico for our friend’s wedding, thinking it would be a perfect beach wedding option. But the $1.6k price tag forced me to search for a more wallet-friendly option… obviously.
But, much like my beloved Burberry trench coat, many obsession-worthy things have a funny way of finding their way into your wardrobe if you’re patient. Thanks to the coaching of my designer bargain-hunting friend Anna, I was able to snag this dress during the summer sale season for over 84% off — a HUGE designer steal, wouldn’t you say? And considering that it was the last one available and IN my size, I’d say this dress was meant to be a part of my personal collection.
Now if only I was going on another trip to Mexico this winter I’d have the perfect tropical shirtdress to wear!
