I remember this happening last summer. One minute it was Memorial Day weekend, the next it was already September. WOW does time fly these days! I struggle to hold on to each moment — no matter how much I try to be truly present for my life, it still feels like it slips by in an instant.
Just like my 20’s. Just like my free-time. Just like my projects. No sooner have I begun one that I’ve moved onto the next!
So this month I’ve been loving things that help me feel organized, focused, healthy, and chic in a really simple, no-fuss way. Simple and present — all I want during this extremely busy season!
What I’m Into || June 2016
I’ve carried little notebooks and paper calendars around with me for as long as I can remember. And while I know the digital age technically makes these items unnecessary (frivolous even), I’ve never been able to do away with them entirely.
There’s just something about writing something down on a physical piece of paper that helps it really STICK in my memory.
So when Jot It Down approached me about sending along some of their insanely chic stationary, I couldn’t say yes fast enough! Does any one else swoon over modern quill pens and chic notebooks like this? I feel so profound and fancy writing my notes and engagements down with a quill pen. It’s almost like the beautiful ritual of it helps everything feel all the more poignant.
I’ve become so addicted to writing with quill pens that I’ve even been eyeing this chic one from Maison Margiela too!
A. Jaffe Maps Necklace (c/o)
A gifted item I would have bought with my own money in a heartbeat. Jewelers A. Jaffe have launched an ingenious new “Maps” necklace collection to help commemorate special places and moments in your life. Using online mapping, you can exactly pinpoint a specific geolocation onto your necklace (with a diamond marker in place as well) to memorialize a happy or fond memory. It’s such a clever idea and so sentimental!
For my necklace, I chose to pick the spot where Hubby proposed back in March 2012 — just a simple street corner in Old Town Chicago. No hidden photographers, no fancy dresses, no fancy plans. Just the two of us on a walk with the pugs with all our happy crying and one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever witnessed. It’s one of the happiest moments of my life and now I can take that exact moment with me everywhere.
I know I’ll cherish this necklace forever! It’s such a beautiful remembrance of a beautiful moment.
For the last month I’ve been wearing these KILLER shades non-stop! I recently got into Ditto after rave reviews from my trusted friend Heidi and have been addicted ever since. For $24 a month you get Netflix-style access to hundreds of designer shades that you can swap out as your heart desires.
It’s a really clever system and one that especially appeals to me since I never seem to be able to make up my mind about what sunglasses I want to wear. Designer bags and shoes are so much easier than picking out sunglasses, I swear! So I love having the option to try as many chic pairs as I want without committing to a 3-figure price tag.
Though I have to admit these Karen Walkers have become an instant classic for me. I haven’t swapped them out yet!

While I am a decidedly loyal fan of the Jo Malone brand (I obsess over their colognes constantly), I’ve always found their body oils to be underwhelming. Maybe it’s because they’re usually designed to be used in a bathtub (which I sadly do not possess) but they just don’t wow me the way their other products do. So once I discovered this Espa cult formula from the UK, I was hooked!
It’s a deeply warming formula that soaks immediately into skin and invigorates tired muscles. This is EXACTLY the type of product I rely on during the busy summer season when I run around all-day, every day. I especially love the invigorating scent and the chic packaging — my bathroom feels so much fancier now with this slim, sexy bottle on my shelf.
But be warned, Espa oils can be hard to find in the States! I buy mine directly from the Spa at The Peninsula here in Chicago — they carry the entire line and have plenty of sample testers out to help you choose the formula you like the most. Hubby and I booked a couple’s massage here back in October and were hooked on this oil after having the most relaxing 90-minute massage we’ve ever had with it!
The ULTIMATE white nail polish. Seriously, look no further. I’ve tried dozens of formulas and this one is the one I return to time and time again.
It glides on easily, is impressively opaque after one coat, and LASTS. I’m notoriously rough on my nails being a full-time photographer — I’m always banging them into gear and getting chips when I change camera lenses. But this formula resists chips like no other, especially when you combine it with Deborah Lippmann’s Addicted to Speed Topcoat that I featured last month.
