I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that lately life has been tough.`For my family and for me.
And it seems like everyone I talk to is experiencing a weird series of negative events and difficult challenges, too.
It certainly is comforting to know you aren’t alone in your suffering during periods of trial, don’t you think?
And yet it’s still brought back so many memories of when my father was dying from cancer. I remember the sacrifices, the helplessness, the confusion, and, of course, the pain. And it all comes back so vividly, as if it happened yesterday.
But pain is also a valuable teacher. I have to keep reminding myself of that. This time I will not just survive the pain, but thrive past it. The lessons learned in the darkest moments of our lives can be the most valuable and useful. And we must never forget to seek the light, especially when we feel like there is none to seek.
For it is the desire to thrive beyond survival that makes us human.
