Long-time readers know I can’t resist the allure of Jo Malone. It’s one of the few brands I truly trust when it comes to scent and with good reason: every scent is fresh and free without feeling chemically (technical term). Over the past four years I’ve amassed quite a collection.
And I’ve also told you how much I adore Jo’s cologne White Lilac and Rhubarb. Part of their limited edition London Blooms collection in Spring 2012 (yes — I really have been addicted that long!), its a scent I became so obsessed with that for Christmas 2013, Hubby gifted me with a second bottle, lovingly acquired through the brutally overpriced resellers of the eBay mecca.
Totally worth it. Totally crazy.
So when I saw that Jo Malone was bringing back this incredible scent for a limited edition candle, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it!
Described by Jo Malone as “tart, vibrant rhubarb laced with powdery white lilac and sensual rose. The delightful scent of an early summer garden”. There’s something powerfully magical about this scent. Its free, its wild, its elegant, its refined. It’s the sort of scent that somehow manages to evolve with my moods and keep me returning back for more.
So yesterday when my limited edition candle finally made its way home — I couldn’t resist the urge to get it up here as quickly as possible!Jo Malone brought back my favorite scent as a charity candle and I couldn’t be more thrilled that indulging in my addiction actually makes a positive impact too. Purchases of this candle go to raising awareness for several community garden charities (you can see a full list here) but my favorite is Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project in Brooklyn. The packaging on the new candle differs slightly from the original packaging — I may actually love the new green label more than the older purple design. Which do you like best?As I type this I’m sitting with my candle lit on my desk. The scent is positively invigorating to work to — it’s energizing without being cloying, playful without trying to hard. In the past I’ve described it as a “romantic yet earthy scent that reminds me of the tale of Alice in Wonderland” because despite its sweet freshness, there’s a rich garden smell that evokes soil and fresh grass to compliment the florals.
The perfect scent to close out spring and welcome summer with! You can grab your own limited edition charity candle here ($70).
