Winter is one of those seasons we love to hate. With last year’s brutal polar vortex still fresh in our minds, us Midwesterners are preparing ourselves for the coming onslaught of cold and relentless snow. For me, that means pulling out this shearling coat and practically living in it until March. It’s so insanely cozy and warm that last winter I was almost able to ignore the arctic conditions and imagine instead that I was home, tucked deeply under my duvet. It takes a very special coat to transport the wearer away from a Midwest winter!

While most shearling coats tend to be bulky and shapeless, this coat’s unique peplum gives it a gorgeous figure-flattering shape. I love that it accentuates my hourglass curves while still keeping me incredibly warm. And if I had to name one essential a Chicago girl needs in her wardrobe, it’s a formidable winter coat that makes her feel beautiful, even in the depths of a blizzard!
