I can hardly believe it’s already that time of year again! The holiday season is upon us and though we have a few weeks to prepare, it never hurts to begin the search for the perfect gifts as early as possible. A few weeks ago, Nicole organized a blogger “Christmas” party with one of her favorite secret spots: Classic Remix — an interior decor and trinket shop that can only be described as an artistic soul’s paradise! Hidden just blocks away from the Magnificent Mile, this gem of a shop is one Nicole has been raving about and we all couldn’t wait to find out why!
The lovely ladies of Cedar and Rush, Hunter Style, Swoon Interiors, An Eventful Life, The Kittchen and I posing with owner Mary Garvey James for a little toast to start off the holiday gift search.
We were each invited to choose our top five holiday gift picks. After rummaging around the shop (it’s the sort of place you can get lost in for hours), I chose my five after some serious, champagne-inhibited deliberations. Classic Remix has so many fantastic little buys for every person on your gift list — it was hard to choose just five! My first choice and one that I actually bought for my desk at home is this brilliant little oyster shell trinket box. For a couple of dollars, these glamorous boxes make the perfect box for a small gift of earrings (of which Classic Remix has some fabulous options) or candies for the holiday season. I’ve been using mine as a paperclip holder on my desk and love how the gold edging matches the other gold touches I have next to my computer. The fun part of this gift is choosing the one you like best since each shell is different from the next. I love the type of gift where no two are exactly alike! Another fun gift is this “booze” necklace to adorn and label different liquor bottles: they have labels for Gin, Vodka, Bourbon… you name it! It’s a fun, personalized touch to a simple yet always appreciated gift of liquor (the gift that keeps on giving)! Dress – Issa London (mentioned in a different color here, similar color on sale here)
Pumps – Cole Haan (old, new season here)
Jewelry – Tiffany & Co (my wedding set: here, here and here)
Nails – Burberry Beauty No. 423 ‘Bottle Green’ (here) The anglophile in me fell instantly for this tonal-gray union jack pillow — wouldn’t this be the perfect accent for just about any couch? The right amount of modern charm yet also happens to be super plushy and cozy. I loved how the neutral palette brings out the pattern of the union jack, making this almost look like a ribbon-wrapped present as well. My next gift pick I ended up loving so much I had to bring one home for myself: a timelessly classic fold-over black velvet clutch (also available in a rich navy). It’s the sort of clutch that can match any evening outfit or bring a touch of understated opulence to a day look — a true work-horse clutch! The velvet is so butter-y soft you can’t help yourself from rubbing it against your cheek. I warn you though: one stroke and you will not escape this bag’s powers. I certainly didn’t…
I’m also a sucker for clocks. A great display clock has a unique way of finishing a room and this silver mantel clock is a divine marriage of sleek sophistication and vintage charm. It’s a statement piece that pairs nicely with almost any decor! To all my lovely, Chicago-based readers, Classic Remix is offering you 10% off any in-store purchases made this week!
